Volume Filling Factors of the Dig
نویسندگان
چکیده
Combining dispersion measures, distances and emission measures for 157 pulsars lying above | b |> 5 and between 60 < l < 360 we find the mean volume filling factor (f̄v) of the diffused ionized gas in the Milky Way. This filling factor is inversely related to the mean electron density (n̄c) in the clouds, f̄v = (0.0184± 0.0014)n̄c , implying a nearly constant average electron density distribution within 3 kpc of the sun.

Densities and filling factors of the DIG in the Solar neighbourhood
Aims. Determination and analysis of electron densities and filling factors of the diffuse ionized gas (DIG) in the solar neighbourhood. Methods. We have combined dispersion measures and emission measures towards 38 pulsars at distances known to better than 50%, from which we derived the mean density in clouds, Nc, and their volume filling factor, Fv, averaged along the line of sight. The emissi...
متن کاملCOMPUTER SIMULATION OF FLUID FLOW FILLING DURING MOLD USING FINITE VOLUME METHOD
In this investigation, ^5 2-D Finite Volume Method (FVM) with unstructured triangular mesh is developed to simulate the mould filling process. The simulation of fluid flow and track of free surface is based on the Marker And Cell (MAC) technique. This technique has capability ofhandling the arbitrary curved solid boundaries in the casting processes. In order to verify the computational results ...
متن کاملVolume-Filling Effects on Sloshing Frequency in Simplified and Explicit Dynamic Finite Element Models of Tank Wagons During Braking and Turning
Numerical analysis of fluid sloshing in tank wagons is amongst essential research ideas that are focused by railway engineers. The free surface of fluid becomes unstable and turns into a dynamic complex non-linear problem for fluid-structure interaction (FSI). In this paper, initially, the dynamic response of the tank, including lateral force analysis and pressure distribution during braking, i...
متن کاملMATHEMATICAL MODELLING OF THE EFFECT OF FOAM DEGRADATION ON MOULD FILLING IN THE GREY IRON EPC PROCESS
In this investigation a new model was developed to calculate gas pressure at the melt/foam interface (Gap) resulting from foam degradation during mould filling in the Lost Foam Casting (LFC) process. Different aspects of the process, such as foam degradation, gas elimination, transient mass, heat transfer, and permeability of the refractory coating were incorporated into this model. A Computati...
متن کاملRadio constraints on the volume filling factors of AGN winds
The calculation of mass outflow rates of AGN winds is of great importance in understanding the role that such winds play in AGN-galaxy feedback processes. The mass outflow rates are, however, difficult to estimate since the volume filling factors of the winds are unknown. In this paper, we use constraints imposed by the observed radio emission to obtain upper limits to the volume filling factor...
